Transitional Demobilization and Reintegration Program

The Multi-country Demobilization and Reintegration Program remains the largest DDR program in the world. It operated from 2002 to 2009 in the Great Lakes region. Through a multi donor trust fund and IDA financing reaching US$ 500 million, the program supported activities in seven countries coming out of conflict.

Despite being implemented in difficult environments, the MDRP supported the demobilization of 280,000 ex-combatants and the reintegration of 230.000. The program's contribution to the improved security situation in the region cannot be denied.
