TDRP provides Training on Tablet-Based Survey in
South Sudan

As part of a support mission to the South Sudan National Disarmament, Demobilization and Reintegration Commission (NDDRC), a TDRP mission visited Juba last week and provided multiple training sessions to Information Counseling and Referral System (ICRS) caseworkers of NDDRC and TDRP consultants on undertaking surveys by using tablets.

Different from paper-based surveys, tablet-based survey questionnaires are programmed in the tablets, and all the data collected will be saved directly in the computer program. During the training, ICRS caseworkers and local consultants learnt not only how to operate tablets and conduct tablet-based surveys, but also how to submit the completed questionnaires to TDRP central server. As part of the training, participants practiced conducting tablet-based surveys between each other.

During July and August, ICRS caseworkers will undertake an ex-combatant tracer on behalf of NDDRC as the Pilot Vocational Training Project ends; in the meantime, TDRP consultants will pilot a victimization survey on crime and criminal violence in Juba. Both surveys will be conducted by using tablets, and TDRP team will analyze the survey data once the surveys are finished.
