TDRP's operations and technical assistance at the regional and country levels cover 13 countries in Africa.
TDRP shares its technical knowledge with DDR stakeholders in fragile and conflict affected areas and in the process has developed a community of practice in DDR. TDRP has been successful at increasing the technical capacity, particularly within national DDR commissions (e.g. Rwanda, Burundi, Democratic Republic of Congo, and Republic of South Sudan).
Request for technical assistance from TDRP remains in high demand due to key factors such as TDRP’s reputational strength, existing constructive relationships with stakeholders, and the technical capacity of TDRP staff. In order to build on the successes already achieved in the African Great Lakes, there is an opportunity and demand for further technical assistance on transitioning from emergency to stabilization in existing TDRP countries such as the Central African Republic and the Republic of Congo.
There also exists an opportunity to share TDRP’s expertise with emerging sites of demand including Chad, Cote d’Ivoire, Mali, Somalia, Republic of South Sudan and Sudan. In all these countries, there has been a demand for TDRP to lend immediate technical assistance in a number of crucial areas with TDRP responding promptly and deploying teams to meet requested demands which have varied from preparing strategy to assisting with piloting nascent DDR programs.
